The mission for the Orlando Mayor's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is to strengthen our community by promoting Dr. King's legacy of service, equality, justice, peace, respect and inclusion for all. For more than three decades, the MLK Commission has joined with corporate and community partners to plan and promote a variety of programs and events that celebrate his life and legacy. Below are a list of events in downtown:

Frontyard Festival Presents - Let Freedom Ring | Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts | January 15 at 7:30 pm 

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts invites you to enjoy a beautifully memorable evening with the 17-member Jazz Orchestra at Dr. Phillips Center's Frontyard and two spoken word artists—performing iconic works that surrounded Dr. Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement.

 Frontyard Festival - 2021 MLK Holiday Parade Showcase | Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts | January 16 at 10:00 am 

The Southwest Orlando Jaycees and the Orlando Mayor's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission invite the entire community to this year’s parade showcase. Come safely celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at this free event, hosted by Orlando’s own comedian, Rod Z. 

Parramore Room Virtual Tour | Virtual | January 18- January 23 at 8:00 am 

Celebrating Dr. King’s commitment to working within the community, take a virtual tour of the Parramore Room at the Valencia Downtown Campus highlighting the recently installed artwork created by artist Nancy Gutkin O’Neil.
