Olympic team trials head to DTO in 2024

Last updated on July 31, 2023

Orlando will soon welcome the nation's elite male and female long-distance runners to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon for the chance to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

We invite you to witness the power of human potential and the spirit of sportsmanship on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Volunteers and spectators alike are encouraged to come together and line the streets of downtown Orlando to cheer, applaud, and uplift our country’s most remarkable runners on their quest for glory.

As the first city in Florida to host this prestigious event, the City of Orlando and our partners, Orange County, Track Shack Events, the Greater Orlando Sports Commission, USA Track & Field, and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, are proud that Orlando will be home to all of the breathtaking moments that will unfold during this monumental event.

The designated route will take runners through downtown Orlando’s Central Business District, City District, South Eola, Lake Eola Heights Historic District, Lake Cherokee Historic District, and Thornton Park District before heading east along tree-lined streets to The Milk District.

  •  There will be designated viewing areas along the route for spectators to watch the marathon. During the event, we anticipate 60,000-100,000 spectators spread throughout the course. The event will also be broadcast live on NBC.

  • Athletes will run one 2.2-mile loop then shift to three 8-mile loops.

  • The top three male and female finishers from the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon will qualify to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

  • The event will begin at 12 p.m. on February 3, 2024 and end at approximately 4 p.m.

  • Approximately 175 men and 175 women will compete in the race.

  • Streets near and along the route may be closed or have limited vehicle and/or pedestrian access on the day of the event.

Information about watch locations, as well as specific traffic patterns, detours and parking will be shared in the fall.

If you have any questions or concerns prior to the release of specific road closures and other event details, please refer to the resources below. We look forward to making this a successful event and to share with the world all that makes the City Beautiful the best place to host international events.
