Art and energy combine in a soccer ball sculpture outside of Exploria Stadium. The giant soccer ball uses solar panels to feed power into OUC’s electrical grid generating power for the city.
The sculpture was built by engineering and manufacturing companies J. Coasta Group and Decamil and was designed by 11 University of Central Florida students taking a class in the School of Visual Art’s Advanced Design Lab. The sculpture is 9.5 feet wide by 14.5 feet tall and illuminates at night.
See the sculpture during the SheBelieves Cup from February 18 – February 24. Three of the top teams from Brazil, Canada, and Japan will join the USA for the most elite four-team international tournament in women’s soccer.
