Dive in for a Cleaner Orlando: Inaugural Lakes Cleanup

Last updated on September 18, 2023

Last week, volunteers, local businesses, and environmental groups teamed up and waded into more than 10 Orlando lakes, including DTO's Lake Dot, cleaning them up by foot and boat. Based on past cleanups, we aimed to remove more than 3,000 pounds of trash from our lakes. And with more than 500 volunteers, this event undoubtedly made a splash! It not only signifies our commitment to preserving the beauty of Orlando's lakes but also showcases the incredible impact that can be made when individuals and organizations join forces for the betterment of our environment. Thank you to The Salvation Army, Surfrider Foundation, Friends of Loch Haven Chain of Lakes, YMCA, Central Florida Recon, and all the volunteers who are working to keep DTO clean. Let's continue this journey toward a cleaner, greener future for Orlando!
