The Florida Redevelopment Agency (FRA), is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Florida professionals and volunteers in community revitalization efforts. Each year, FRA accepts entries for the annual awards from its members in a variety of categories, ranging from annual reports to cultural enhancement. The Community Redevelopment Agency’s project, Quiet Rides, is the 2021 winner of the Transportation Transit Enhancement category.
Quiet Rides focuses on the replacement of the LYMMO buses, downtown Orlando’s fare-free circulator, to electric buses. In doing so, carbon emissions in the area are reduced. Quiet Ride is quieter and cleaner than the former buses, improving the overall ride experience for users and air quality for the residents of Orlando. The City of Orlando is transitioning its buses to a 100% zero-emissions fleet by 2022.
