Buddy’s Blend was Meant to Bee

Last updated on September 15, 2022

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar recently joined Black Bee Honey youth entrepreneurs for the launch of their latest honey, Buddy's Blend, affectionately named by the students of the Parramore Kidz Zone.

The new honey was harvested from beehives on the rooftop of downtown City of Orlando Fire Station 1 and pays homage to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer who founded Parramore Kidz Zone in 2006 and has supported Black Bee Honey since its inception.

This new, sweet treat from Parramore is called Buddy’s Summer Blend. The new honey is now available in one-pound jars at the Grand Avenue Neighborhood Center in Parramore, at Discover Downtown, and at occasional pop ups.

Proceeds from the project are invested back into the business to pay salaries, acquire equipment, and buy more honey. Any profits are used to support community youth in academics, sports programs, college application costs, and crisis aversion, such as keeping families from being evicted or losing power.
