Rethink Urban Wildlife with Big City Birds

Downtown Orlando is alive with a unique art installation as part of DTOLive! This installation, known as Big City Birds, In partnership with United Arts of Central FLoridaand The Creative City Project, this unique exhibit features a series of 16-foot-tall, neon, inflatable pigeons, designed to draw attention and spark conversation about the role of pigeons in urban environments. Once celebrated for their contributions to communication and companionship, pigeons are now often dismissed as nuisances. This installation challenges that perception by magnifying their presence in our shared spaces.
Through the vision of local artist Brendan O’Connor, “Big City Birds” is the second installment of Creative City Project’s collaboration with DTOLive. The artist's vision is to blur the lines between nature and civilization, prompting us to rethink the boundaries we place on the natural world in our cities. By placing these giant sculptures in the heart of downtown, the installation invites viewers to appreciate the resilience and adaptability of these birds, encouraging a deeper connection with all urban wildlife.
