407 Connect Heads Downtown this Summer

Last updated on February 17, 2025

Thanks to Vero Beach-based non-profit, the Source, we're bringing a proven solution to address homelessness to Orlando.

407 Connect, inspired by the "Dignity Bus" model from Vero Beach, will consist of two custom-fabricated buses, outfitted with sleeping pods, storage compartments, restrooms, pet compartments and more, designed to provide safe overnight shelter to 40 individuals at a time. This effort is in partnership with the Christian Service Center (CSC) and the city's Community Redevelopment Agency.

As part of the 407 Connect program, these individuals, predetermined by the CSC case management team, would not only have a clean and safe space to sleep each night, but also with services that will ultimately connect them with permanent housing. Through this model, we expect to connect over 400 individuals to permanent housing over the next three years.

This is just one part of our plan to reduce homelessness in our city. Together, we will create a more compassionate and inclusive community for all.
