The City of Orlando, in partnership with Lynx, will launch the SWAN Shuttle (shuttling with autonomous navigation), a free, autonomous vehicle shuttle in Creative Village. The pilot will allow us to test the impacts of modernization and improved user experience on LYMMO as outlined in the Project DTO 2.0 Action Plan. Data from this project could also help us to understand potential solutions to more effectively connect places identified by the Project DTO 2.0 Action Plan such as Ivanhoe Village.
The shuttle is part of a six-month pilot that will start on August 20, 2023, and offer rides seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The SWAN shuttle seats up to eight passengers and will run along a portion of the Orange LYMMO Line. The roughly one-mile route has five stops that connect LYNX Central Station and SunRail to UCF/Valencia Downtown, Luminary Green Park, Electronic Arts (EA), the ACE school, and other Parramore and Creative Village businesses and residences in the area. A link to the shuttle route can be found here.
The pilot program helps advance Orlando’s Future-Ready efforts and furthers the city's goals of having a connected community by investing in state-of-the-art technology and offering sustainable transit solutions that are safe, efficient and environmentally friendly. Additionally, these efforts align with the city’s DTO 2.0 Action Plan to enhance travel downtown, expand mobility options and promote a thriving downtown neighborhood.
