Recently, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan joined the Orlando Land Trust (OLT), for the groundbreaking of the Lake Eola Park expansion at 1 North Rosalind Avenue. This groundbreaking, where a former 7-11 store sat, allows for the creation of a new interim plaza and green space for the park. This park furthers the goal of Project DTO 2.0 to expand open space and enhance livability in DTO. The acquisition of this property was made possible through a partnership between the Orlando Land Trust, who raised over $1.625 million, and the city's Community Redevelopment Agency, which contributed $1.225 Million towards the property purchase, with OLT purchasing the property and subsequently donating it to the CRA for open space and park use. In just a few short months, the new plaza design will serve as a space to further connect residents and will ensure that Lake Eola Park remains a gem for the entire community.
