With acrobats, living statues, two Winter Mini-Fest Teaser Show screenings, and a particularly nerve-racking ribbon-cutting for anyone afraid of heights, Fringe ArtSpace opened to the public with a Grand Opening Bash on January 11 that also served as a fundraiser with all donations benefitting Orlando Fringe and Fringe ArtSpace.
Best known for its annual Loch Haven Park theater festival each May, Orlando Fringe will manage their ArtSpace at 54 West Church Street. The 9,100 square foot theater space has been designed to be a hub for Orlando’s arts community, one that develops artist-focused programming and creates experiences that build upon the amazing arts scene that exists here in Central Florida.
The theater features a black box performance area with 40 – 60 seats and a mainstage that seats 166. Orlando Fringe seeks to strengthen the Central Florida artistic scene, with a special focus on up-and-coming theater makers, and to create more cultural activity downtown. The space will be run partly as an arts incubator, providing opportunities for artists who can’t afford or lack the knowledge to stage their own productions.
