“If Black Language Ain’t Artful, Then Tell Me, What Is?” By Dr. April
Dr. April Baker-Bell, author of "Linguistic Justice: Black Language, Literacy, Identity, and Pedagogy," will tell a story about the history, art and resiliency of Black Language — its relationship to enslavement, its impact on the nation and globe, and its stormy relationship with the education system. She will then discuss why she is arguing for Black Linguistic Justice and what it looks like in classrooms and communities. This event will be closed captioned in English.
