Storytelling through Dance with the Asian Cultural Association
Join the History Center for an incredible afternoon of South Asian dance and activities! Dancers from the Central Florida-based Asian Cultural Association will perform Kathak dance from 2 – 3 p.m., with family-friendly activities going until 4 p.m. The Kathak dance form traces its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathaks or storytellers, who performed in village squares and temple courtyards, recounting mythological and moral tales. It was quintessential theater, using instrumental and vocal music along with stylized gestures, to enliven the stories. This is sure to be an event the whole family will not want to miss!
The Asian Cultural Association is dedicated to the preservation of South Asian art and culture through education and entertainment. For more about the ACA, visit its website, aca-florida.org.
