Olly Olly Oxen Free by Sumner Mormeneo - Closing Night Performance

Olly Olly Oxen Free is a catchphrase used in children’s games to indicate that players who are hiding can come out into the open without losing the game, that the position of the sides in a game has changed, or, alternatively, that the game is entirely over. The newest series by Sumner Mormeneo explores this playful yet dark concept of truth through body language. The surreal imagery throughout Sumner’s work reinforces the psychology of the conscious and subconscious; Mormeneo’s new works delves into what one intends to convey in contrast to what is actually perceived.
