Journey Down The Secret River

Opera meets Florida literature in this special program about Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ acclaimed children’s book, The Secret River, and its adaptation into an opera that will be premiered this December at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The program features Florence Turcotte of the University of Florida George A. Smathers Libraries, who serves as the official Rawlings archivist, along with composer Stella Sung and singers from Opera Orlando. This event is free and open to the public. Bring the whole family to enjoy this behind the scenes look at Rawlings’ beloved children’s book and the opera it has inspired.
