Downtown Orlando is a walkable, liveable city where it is easy and convenient to get around. The City of Orlando and Downtown Development Board are committed to ensuring there are diverse options for residents and visitors to get around and connect to entertainment and nightlife, all the while reducing the impact on the environment. Today, residents and visitors can enjoy multimodal forms of transportation options including: Bike Share: Downtown Orlando’s bike share program increases mobility in the urban core, connects to existing transit and provides another affordable transportation option around the area. Car Share: Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, is now available in Downtown Orlando. Residents, businesses, visitors and students now have access to Zipcar’s affordable, convenient and sustainable transportation option. Colonial Drive Overpass: The Colonial Drive Overpass connects Gertrude's Walk to the Dinky Line and is a critical link for the Orlando Urban Trail. The overpass opened in March 2019. I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project: I-4 Ultimate is an important project for Central Florida. The 21-mile makeover - from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County - will transform the region while connecting our communities, improving our economy and enhancing livability for everyone. The project includes four new Express Lanes, reconstructed interchanges, and completely rebuilt bridges. The project is expected to be completed in 2021. LYMMO: Downtown Orlando’s free bus rapid transit system. Recently, LYMMO underwent a service expansion that better serves to connect all Downtown areas. SunRail: Central Florida’s new commuter rail line. There are two SunRail stations located Downtown, providing riders with a safe, comfortable and user-friendly experience. Scooter Share: Through this pilot program users can rent devices equipped with GPS technology, without the need to return them to a specific location. Most companies offer smartphone applications where riders can locate a device, unlock it and pay for the trip.
