Valentine's Day in The City

With Valentine’s Day on a Sunday this year, there is more of an opportunity to do something special during the day and well into the evening. This could make things more complicated for some, so here are some ideas for couples, families, and maybe even an idea or two for the singles to spend the holiday weekend!

Sunday brunch is always a winner, but dare to try something different since restaurants are specially serving breakfast on this day of love! On February 14, enjoy live music at the trendy, upscale restaurant HUE. Go original with steak and eggs or give your taste buds something different by trying Kahlua stuffed french toast or cinnamon toast with crème anglaise. Another place going all out for Valentine’s brunch is The Grand Bohemian Hotel. Enjoy a New American feast complete with champagne and specialty deserts while listening to live jazz music. Stay at the hotel the night before and experience the luxurious accommodations, including champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for two. Also serving brunch are Spice Steakhouse, 310 Lakeside and Dexter’s of Thornton Park.

As long as the weather permits, experiencing the swan boats on Lake Eola is something fun for couples and the whole family! Stop by the Orlando Farmer’s Market while your there, featuring live music, a beer and wine garden and shopping. The Farmer’s Market will have a wide selection of original jewelry and art that would make for a great present for her to unwrap! If you need a little more help picking out a gift for your sweetie, visit one of Downtown Orlando’s chic boutiques, such as Zou Zou, Forty-Seven Clothing, Ego Lab, or Marie-France, where their retail specialists provide you with assistance in picking the perfect gift.

There’s nothing wrong with doing the usual dinner date for Valentine’s Day. Whether you are looking for somewhere quiet or somewhere with live music, a trendy restaurant or an old-favorite, Downtown Orlando has a perfect place to plan your evening! Ceviche, Citrus Restaurant and Shari are all having special dinner dishes for the occasion to go along with their romantic atmosphere. For a little something after dinner, visit The Dessert Lady on Church Street, who will be featuring a local singer/songwriter and wine (and of course dessert) specials.

For those couples wanting to try something out of the ordinary, Sak Comedy Lab is hosting “Fools for Love.” There’s a $25 Sweetheart Special admission price, which includes admission for two, two bags of popcorn, candy hearts and two small drinks. Renowned performance group DRIP will be “stimulating the senses” of their audiences by immersing them in an edible environment and giving them a taste of an interactive fantasy world, complete with visual, dance and art combined with a four-course, hands-on dinner. For the daring couple, this event will also be featuring couples body paint! Occurring February 4-6 and February 11-14 at The Cameo Theatre in Downtown Orlando, nightly performances and special weekend brunches are offered for all audiences including couples, singles and even families. Visit ILoveDRIP.com for more information on specific times and performances, as well as ticket pricing.

For those of you without a special someone, there is still a way to enjoy Valentine’s Day. The Social will be presenting Blood On The Dance Floor February 14 and Waitiki on Wall Street features Bingo After Dark every Sunday night! Graffiti Junktion of Thornton Park also serves up “Sunday Funday” with karaoke and drink specials. Downtown Orlando offers you a taste of everything Valentine’s weekend, so start your planning and do your part to create your own day of love!
