Out of this World highlights our nation’s rich entertainment history through more than 40 costumes and props from some of the most popular films and television shows of all time, including “Star Wars,” “The Terminator,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Ghostbusters,” “Star Trek,” and more.
See fantasy, adventure, and sci-fi costumes spanning more than 60 years as crucial tools in defining characters. Examine how costume design incorporates color, style, scale, materials, historical traditions and cultural cues to help performers and audiences engage with characters.
The 3,500 square foot exhibtion features:
• Hat worn by Margaret Hamilton as Wicked Witch of the West in the film "The Wizard of Oz"
• Jacket worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"
• Leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film "The Terminator"
• Embroidered robe worn by actor Joe Turkel as Eldon Tyrell in "Blade Runner"
• Darth Vader cape, Jedi robe and lightsaber from the "Star Wars" trilogy
• Tunic and sash worn by William Shatner as Captain Kirk in "Star Trek"
• Costume worn by Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz in the film "Ghostbusters II"

Complimentary Exhibit: Lights! Camera! Action! Filming in Paradise
From the Orange County Regional History Center
Stroll along Florida’s Walk of Fame into a complimentary exhibit of “bonus features” on what goes into making a film and Florida’s surprising history in film and television – then step onto a “set” to see what goes on behind the scenes.
In relation to these new and exciting exhibits, the History Center will be hosting the Out of This World Grand Opening Block Party Saturday, February 6. The event will take place from 10:00AM to 4:00PM outside in Heritage Square Park. This is a fun filled day of carnival games, food and beverage vendors, various entertainments for all ages including: Z88.3FM with music and giveaways from 11:00 AM to 3:00PM, Ghostbusters arriving at 12:00PM, and a bounce house for kids. This is a free event and open to the public; admission to the exhibit is additional.
Some costume highlights will include:
* Robe worn by Sir Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the film Star Wars (1977)
* Leather jacket worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and Indy's whip from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
* Leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film The Terminator (1984)
* Costume worn by George Clooney as Batman in the film Batman and Robin (1997)
* Tunic and sash worn by William Shatner as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek episode "Mirror Mirror" (1967)
