    EVENT TODAY: Gov. Charlie Crist to Sign Landmark Legislation on Statewide Rail Plan

    Today at 1:00PM , join Governor Charlie Crist, Mayor Buddy Dyer, members of the Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission and other elected officials in Downtown Orlando to celebrate the passage of a comprehensive statewide rail plan. This legislation will allow for the creation of SunRail, Central Florida’s first commuter rail line, and pave the way for a future statewide rail transportation network.

    SunRail Update - SunRail has passed!

    Message from Mayor Dyer as of 12/08/09 5:00 PM
    Today the Florida Legislature approved a comprehensive statewide rail plan that will allow for the creation of SunRail, Central Florida’s first commuter rail line, and pave the way for a future statewide rail transportation network.  This landmark legislation also sets the stage for Florida to leverage billions of federal dollars to build high speed rail lines, the first of which would connect Orlando to Tampa.

    Here's What's New With Parking

    The Downtown Confidential wants to keep you informed about changes and enhancements to parking services.  Courthouse Advantage Pre Paid Debit Cards are being sold for the upcoming 2009/2010 basketball season. With these cards Orlando Magic fans can save $3.00 per game for parking. While event fees remain cash only, credit and debit cards are now accepted as a form of payment at both the Central and Courthouse parking garages.

    Orlando Voted One of The Ten Best U.S. Transit Systems By Grist Magazine

    According to Grist, a Seattle-based environmental, nonprofit online magazine, Orlando was voted one of the ten best U.S. transit systems. “Orlando, with its free bus rapid transit         system LYMMO, is credited with inspiring the development of several nearby office and residential buildings and  improving walkability,” commented the magazine.
